KAMANGWANA HAS CARVED HIS NAME WELL
Charles Kamangwana a holder of numerous awards pertaining to his tasteful work, and has showed his diplomacy in art through one of his paintings which is a piece de resistance of the workshop he participated in.
The title of the painting is ‘’De-Klinze Hotel’’ depicting the outside from view of the hotel in the Netherlands.It is at this hotel where the art workshop was carried out involving Zimbabwean and Dutch artists last year in September 2003.Kamangwana is acting as an engine of success to other young practicing artists.He trained many students at BAT Art Worship.He is currently working at the National Gallery of Zimbabwe as the Education Officer , Art Teacher and Instructor.
Charles has exhibited both locally and internationally.His paintings connotes a ‘’song’’ which is quite epicene to both man and women in their peculiar village and urban environment, like drinking beer together , chatting , having journeys , cyclists , playing games and so on.He captures subjects in semi-realistic and realistic convivial form.With works filled with dynamism and iridescent path of using colour. The work again he does ‘’engulfs’’ social peculiar everyday events.
The words ‘’Multi –talented artist of a kind’’ can be applied to Kamangwana. Why?Because he does weld art (metal sculptures) paintings , photographs as well as woodcuts , linocuts and drypoints.According to the knowledge , experience and expertise he has , Charles is a mentor to other young artists as can be seen on how he is carrying out his artistry work for himself and others.Charles , an artist in his early thirties has his name in numerous catalogue Artbooks both in Zimbabwe and abroad.Kamangwana is a member of the African Colours Artist Association and was trained at BAT Visual Art Studio in Harare.
